Del Webb Explosion Biography “Decades of international touring has left Del Webb Explosion a backstory as big as its sound.” Formed in Adelaide in the early ’80s, the original lineup quickly earned a reputation as a class act—blending original songs with northern soul influences and clocking up an impressive 76 gigs in just 13 months before disbanding. From the ashes came Plan B, carrying the torch through years of solid local and interstate touring. After a long hiatus, the band re-emerged in 2009 with three original members, embarking on an extensive international run that saw them release multiple studio recordings and take their music across Asia and the UK. In late 2025, the circle closed—Plan B returned to its roots, reclaiming the name Del Webb Explosion and unveiling a revitalised lineup featuring vocalist Paul Matthews and guitarist Brett Sody. Today, Del Webb Explosion is an eight (sometimes nine)-piece rock’n’soul powerhouse, driven by a dynamic three-piece brass section and a love of bold, 80s-influenced British rock. Known for delivering a complete creative package, the band produces original, engaging work both visually and aurally—from standout songs and tight arrangements to striking artwork and video. Equally at home on stage, Del Webb Explosion brings a polished, high-energy live show that connects instantly with audiences—whether long-time followers or first-time listeners—proving themselves a band that doesn’t just play… they entertain.
